Badminton Updates: Goh Jin Wei Surprised On Her Selection For 2018 Commonwealth Games
Currently World No. 50 Goh Jin Wei has been selected for 2018 Commonwealth Games by BAM. BAM have almost surprised her because she was not expecting that to happen. Selectors have shown faith on Goh Jin Wei over Soniia Cheah (No. 29) as they believe her to be a better option for 2018 Commonwealth Games.
She has won World Junior Championship before. 17-year-old shuttler named in the list of 10 members on Thursday.
Jin Wei said,”I didn’t expect to get in and I’m thankful for being selected for the Commonwealth Games for the first time.” She is also happy and honoured to team up alongside seniors such as Lee Chong Wei, Goh V Shem and Tan Wee Kiong, for whom she has so much respect for.
She also added,” The selectors must have picked me for a reason and now it’s up to me to justify it. I’ll play my part and help the team accomplish their goal.”
She is very much determined to take part in 2018 Commonwealth Games and to impress each and everyone. Last year she won SEA Games as women’s singles and is bearing a lot of confidence. She thinks that there is a full chance for her to win medal as expected by BAM. But yes there are many better shuttlers too in the race like Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu.
She said,” Hopefully, I’ll avoid Saina or Sindhu in the early rounds. They are simply a class above the rest.
She haven’t faced Sindhu before but she has played Saina once and lost to her (in the second round) at the Australian Open last year.
She further added, “But I’m a better player now and I’m ready to take them on and give them a run for their money.” Goh Jin Wei is very much desperate to impress her seniors and BAM.
