Team India clinches out BRONZE medal in Sultan Azlan Shah Cup after beating New Zealand 4-0. The 4-0 win was the best shot by the team in the entire tournament.

Rupinderpal scored 2 penalty corners. In addition to this SV Sunil made his first goal and later on Talwinder Singh scored last goal of the match to win Bronze in Sultan Azlan Shah Cup.

Team India displayed a very descent and hockey against New Zealand to win out Bronze in Sultan Azlan Shah Cup. India secured 3rd position while New Zealand could only managed to secure 4th position.

Earlier India lost to Malaysia by 1-0 to find a place for bronze medal match rather than gold medal match. India needed two goals difference win over Malaysia but did not score even 1 goal.

Malaysia went upto 5th position beating Japan 3-1.

Rupinderpal converted 2 penalty corners in 17th and 27th minute giving India 2-0 lead. SV Sunil made his first goal in 48th minute. Finally Talwinder Singh played his crucial hand in last minute to claim victory by 4-0.

India wasted first two penalty corners but Rupinderpal’s grounded shot gave 1-0 lead in 17th minute through 3rd penalty corner.

Another penalty corner came in 27th min which got straight onto the defender’s foot which turned into another penalty corner. This time Rupinderpal scored a firing goal out of it.

SV Sunil who was out of the score sheet till now managed to secure his maiden goal in the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup.

Mandeep gave a firing pass from the right corner. SV Sunil charged into the circle and deflected the ball to beat the goal keeper to score his first goal.

This gave India a 3-0 lead in 48th minute. This was the time when everything was almost over for New Zealand.

But the picture was still left. The last minute show came by Talwinder Singh who converted odd(3-0) figure into an even number (4-0).

This time Manpreet and Talwinder hunted in a pair. He picked up the pass from Manpreet Singh and reversed the shot to beat the goal keeper for the last and final time.

This gave team India 3rd position in the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup.
