The former South African wicketkeeper-batsman Dane Vilas has signed a deal for two years with Dolphins club. The deal was announced on 3rd April, Monday. He has worked with Cobras for 7 years and now is excited to move ahead.
Dane Vilas made his debue against Bangladesh in the year 2015 and went up to play six International test matches and a single T20 before ending up his deal with Kolpak. Dolphins recently lost their two international players David Miller and Kyle Abott. This made them to stand with only one international player Imran Tahir. Keshav Maharaja, Andile Phehlukmage along with Dane Vilas will add little international experience for the club Dolphins.
“To have a guy like Dane coming to the Durban just adds so much value to the franchise. He is a quality wicketkeeper and a really good batsman who has the ability to take away from the opposition” coach Grant Morgan said.
Main reason for which Dane Vilas signed deal with Dolphins is the coach Grant Morgan. Moreover his wife has a family in Durban which made it an easier decision for Vilas.
“I had 7 great years at the Cobras and really enjoyed myself but I feel like it was time to move on and I am excited to contribute to Dolphins” Vilas said.
It feels like Morne van wyk, player from Veteran will be replaced by new addition of Vilas. But Vilas will not be overburdened with gloves as Dolphins already has a young keeper for them that is Alex Davies. Khaya Zondo will be holding the duty of captaincy.
“I will be available to keep for them (Lancshire) if they need me to but they have a young keeper Alex Davies who is trying to break into the England ranks so it will be good to offer assistance where I can” Vilas said.
Dolphins have also added strength to their bowling unit. The name of the strength is Lwandisma Zuma a 20 year old player. He has played U-19 international matches fie South Africa.
