Australia v/s India: Handscob and Marsh’s fight resulted in a draw

The 3rd Test Match between India and Australia at Ranchi ended in a draw due to the partnership between Peter Handscob and Shaun Marsh.  Now, it has gone to the decider, the last 4th Match at Dharamshala where both the teams will be looking to conquer the series.

Before lunch, it was looking like at the end,  the series will be at 2-1 in the way of India. But the fifth wicket partnership of 125 from 373 balls ruined up all the hopes of India. The partnership took around 62 overs to come to an end. These 62 overs were like nightmare for the Indian team.

In the first session India got up to the flying start when they dismissed the opener Matt Renshaw and the Australian skipper Steve Smith. At this stage, Australia was at a very critical situation 63-4 when came in the star of the day 5 Peter Handscob. Although, he did not had a great series so far but today his temperament was at his best.

First wicket of the day was of Renshaw who got LBW by the aggressive Ishant Sharma. Previously in the same over Renshaw stopped Ishant Sharma in the mid way which popped up the nerves of the pacer. Thereby the next two deliveries were firing bouncers which forced Renshaw to get one step back into the crease. The next delivery did not got well bounce and hit the pad of the Renshaw which caused his dismissal. Immediately in the next over, the skipper lost his concentration thereby giving up his wicket when his off-stump emerged out the soil.

After lunch break 2nd session was all in the favour of the Australian team. Indians got couple of chances which they reviewed  but they got no results out of this. But all of the above it was the concentration and temperament which gave Australians the confidence that yes they can. Marsh scored 53 and Handscob remained not out at 72 of 197 balls which helped them to sustain the series alive.

The third session began and at the 13th over of the third session Ravindra Jadeja knocked out Shaun Marsh. He gave the catch to the fielder placed at the short leg. It took next 15 balls when Glenn Maxwell became the victim of R Ashwin. But till then it was too late for the team India to win this match. The bowlers hunt in pair but this time the pair did not work for team India. On the one hand Jadeja was taking wickets but the magic from the Ashwin remained unseen.

The last and the real hope for the Indian side was the introduction of the new ball. But the class shown by the Australian batsman made everything in their way. The pain which Pujara and Saha gave on the 4th day to Australia was given back to them by the contribution of Handscob and Marsh on the 5th day. All the deliveries which came towards the batsman were handled equally good by the excellent technique.

Thus the draw now brings the real excitement for all the fans of cricket. The last match of the series is at Dharamshala. The team which will be winning the match well be winning the Border Gavaskar trophy by   2-1.
